Coffee In A Cone Is The Craziest New Food Trend Out Of Japan

Most recently, the world was exposed to “avo-latte”, the bizarre pouring of espresso into an empty avocado shell, of course the sequel would be serving coffee in a waffle one. We have to admit, if there’s no spillage, this idea is kind of genius. It’s lined with leak-proof chocolate coating the inside, but you only have about 10 minutes to drink it before the chocolate melts and leaves your precious coffee to soak through the delicate waffle outside. For those of you who prefer to sip on your coffee leisurely, this might not be the best move. People are doing their take on coffee cones all over the world, but Coffee Cone, a cafe in Tokyo, is absolutely killing the edible coffee cup game with their impressive cones! They’re the only cafe in the world catering specifically to this pairing with different cone options, such as Technicolor theme, sprinkles, or matcha powder. The variety of cones lets tasters play around with different flavors, one-upping everyone el

Eating Seafood May Boost Your Chances Of Getting Pregnant, According To This New Study

Waiting to get pregnant can be one of the most frustrating experiences, so anything that speeds the process along is welcome news. Now researchers are saying that  eating seafood may boost couples' chances of getting pregnant more quickly. A new study, released in the  Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism , shows that consumption of seafood twice a week, or more, increased sexual activity and decreased time until pregnancy. The team of researchers studied 501 couples in the United States who participated in a study on the ways environmental factors affect the ability to get pregnant. According to the study's abstract, couples recorded their seafood intake and sexual activity in journals. Results showed that couples who consumed two or more servings of fish per week were having sex more frequently, and that 92 percent of them were pregnant at the end of the yearlong study, according to Medical Xpress. That’s compared to a pregnancy rate of 79 percent among

Eating Chicken And 6 Other Surprising Things That Dehydrate You

When you think about health, you might spend most of your time thinking about how much activity you're getting, what sorts of foods you're choosing to eat (or not), how stressed you typically are, and even how much sleep you're getting each night. Your body needs plenty of water in order to function effectively and healthily, but if you're not drinking enough water and getting enough hydration from liquids themselves, there are other ways that you can get it. Similarly, however, some of the things that you might be eating or drinking can have a negative effect on your hydration levels, causing you to lose that water that actually might be beneficial to your body. 30 Healthy Snacks to Satisfy Your Cravings and STILL Lose Weight

Spoiler alert: Cookies aren't off limits! The science is clear: Eating small amounts of healthy foods throughout the day is the best way to curb cravings, limit hunger, and avoid overeating come meal time. If you can’t stop eating, don’t miss these  surprising reasons you’re always hungry . There’s no perfect formula, but many experts are now saying that in addition to three healthy meals, each of us should enjoy a snack mid-morning and mid-afternoon as well. After dinner, either a small dessert or late-evening snack also makes sense to round out the day’s menu. The goal is to never go three waking hours without having a small bite to eat. The key rule: Keep each snack to 125 calories or less. As you’ll see, we’re not banning chocolate or potato chips. But you’ll find that the healthier the food, the more you can eat. For example, an entire cucumber is a mere 45 calories. It takes just five potato chips to get you to that threshold!  ving .We’ve asked the food experts

Eat This at Night, and You’ll Practically Burn Fat in Your Sleep

For those who get the munchies right before bed, this is for you. Full disclaimer: We all know that regularly eating at night could lead to weight gain. That’s especially true when it comes to snacks that contain refined carbs and starches—like bread, rice, potato chips, and pretzels—which are low in fiber and high in sugar. Sure, they may be a quick fix; but if you don’t use the converted energy, those calories will be stored as fat, instead. Talk about bad news for your waistline. Still, experts say it’s best not to go to bed hungry, either (and here’s why!) So when your tummy starts rumbling after you turn out the lights, you’re probably better off reaching for a low-carb, high-protein snack. If you’re ravenous, here’s a good choice: mozzarella string cheese sticks. At fewer than 100 calories per pop, these tiny-but-mighty snacks provide a whopping six grams of protein with just one gram of carbs, as well as extra nutrients like calcium and vitamin D. Plus, you won’t have

This Is Why You Can’t Buy Fresh Olives at the Supermarket

This is one fresh fruit that you won’t find on the shelves of any grocery store. Admit it, have you ever really thought about why you don’t usually find fresh olives on store shelves? Typically, olives go from being grown on a tree to getting picked and then to the jars you see in the supermarket. That makes sense, right?  But, why are they always found in a jar, soaking in a salty brine? Sorry to disappoint all of the olive lovers out there, but the fresh fruit actually tastes  really  horrible—so horrible that grocery stores won’t sell it. The compound in the fruit that makes it taste so disgusting and bitter is oleuropein. Fresh olives contain up to 14 percent of it. (Make sure you don’t fall for these very sneaky supermarket tricks.) To make olives edible, professional olive processors and bold home cooks use three different methods to remove the oleuropein. The first two methods are soaking them in water or fermenting them in a salt brine. The downside to those me

5 Health Benefits of Beans—and 5 Surprising Risks

Beans are nutritional powerhouses packed with protein, fiber, B vitamins, iron, potassium, and are low in fat; but this mighty food can also pose potential health risks. Health Benefit: Beans can prevent heart disease Studies have shown that people who eat more legumes have a lower risk of heart disease, and the phytochemicals found in beans might be partially to thank, since they protect against it. Health Benefit: Beans can fight cancer Beans contain a wide range of cancer-fighting plant chemicals, specifically, isoflavones and phytosterols which are associated with reduced cancer risk. Health Benefit: Beans can lower cholesterol Beans provide the body with soluble fiber, which plays an important role in controlling blood cholesterol levels. Studies find that about 10 grams of soluble fiber a day—the amount in 1/2 to 1 1/2 cups of navy beans—reduces LDL cholesterol by about 10 percent. Beans also contain saponins and phytosterols, which help lowe

Here’s the real difference between white and brown eggs. The shade of an egg yolk is completely determined by the hen’s diet. Hens that are given feed full of yellow-orange pigments wi
