Damon Wayans and Clayne Crawford were a toxic combination behind-the-scenes playing buddy cops for two seasons on TV's Lethal Weapon.
And in case you needed audio proof, it's here.
Variety has a thorough, stunning expose of the two actors' explosive relationship that features audio of the stars arguing bitterly on set, representative of the bigger problems between the two. Their tense relationship, the industry magazine found, almost derailed the popular Fox drama.
Crawford, who was fired last month from the Martin Riggs role (the loose-cannon cop played by Mel Gibson in the Lethal Weapon film franchise) is featured in audio that allegedly has him blowing up over sound problems on set.
Wayans, who continues to plays Roger Murtaugh (the Danny Glover role) continues to work on the show, which was renewed for a third season with Seann William Scott hired to replace Crawford.
This first virulent exchange was captured on the two actors' microphones between scenes, apparently prompted by a stunt accident Wayans experienced during a season two episode that Crawford directed.
During a special-effects explosion, a piece of shrapnel struck Wayans in the back of the head, causing a small wound. Wayans later held Crawford responsible for an unsafe work environment.
"You're the biggest crybaby (expletive) I've ever met in my life," Crawford says on the tape, taunting Wayans as only "in the game" because of his famous family. Wayans fires back with profanity.
In the second segment where audio was captured, Crawford grows increasingly frustrated shooting an intense scene at a public pool. The actor can be heard off-camera cursing at the crew to quiet down the pool patrons, reportedly children. An assistant director allegedly quit on the spot.
Variety spoke to 31 sources for the piece, and multiple sources confirmed the authenticity of the video/audio.
